3/16/2017 Famous Texas sheriff with Irish roots gets ball rolling on St. Pat’s Day
The luck of the Irish came a little early for Peggi Collins when Waco, Texas Sheriff Parnell McNamara and his wife Charlotte stopped by Highway 96 Road House last Tuesday; turns out he is the inspiration for the Oscar nominated film starring Jeff Bridges “Hell or High Water.” In fact they look a lot alike. Yet McNamara is also Irish “I still have cousins in Clare County Ireland; whenever I show my license I find out a cousin happens to own that pub, I still have never paid for a beer there.” The couple, fresh from a trip to the academy awards was taking some time to visit their daughter in Aspen. “Every time we hit Walsenburg we love to take the back way and travel through Westcliffe,” explained Charlotte.
