The Wet Mountain Tribune in Westcliffe was presented two awards during last weekend’s 132nd annual convention of the Colorado Press Association in Denver.

Tribune publisher Jim Little was honored with a second-place win for best editorials, and graphics designer Daniel Zeller received a second-place award for best informational graphic for a map he designed for the 2009 Summer in the Valley visitors’ guide. Judging for the contest was performed by members of the Oklahoma newspaper association.

In recent years, the Tribune has won awards in several categories, including best news story, best news photograph, best agricultural story, best special section, best ad, best personal columns, best advertising campaign, general excellence and others.

“We’re pleased and humbled that our efforts are recognized by our peers,” said Little.

During the convention, representatives of Colorado’s 150 paid-circulation daily and weekly newspapers met with state legislators and Gov. Bill Ritter, and took part in various workshops. The convention is held every February at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver. The Colorado Press Association is the state’s oldest and longest serving trade organization.

Attending from the Tribune were Daniel and Summer Zeller and children Skye and Sara Rain; and Jim and Constance Little and children Spencer, Blair and Griffin.
