Do you want to become part of a backcountry team dedicated to helping those in need? If so, recruitment is underway for the Custer County Search and Rescue Technical Rope Rescue Team.

New members must be willing to serve as general SAR team members and be physically able to participate in the rigorous demands of the technical team. Applicants must also be at least 18 years of age, with all eligible persons approved by the SAR organization and the Custer County sheriff’s office.

Training is also required. Among the upcoming training exercises are Wilderness First Aid, Flight for Life, specific TRR team training and a simulated mission.

The local SAR team may also be called in to assist with other local emergencies or to assist other SAR agencies in nearby counties.

For more information, contact team-training coordinator John Peleaux via e-mail at Innovative.Access@Juno.com or by calling 783-3530.
