In an interview with the Tribune earlier this week,
Goodman said he jumped into the race because he wants to get more involved in
the community. Goodman also said because he is retired he has the time
to give the job his all. “I believe I can help move this county forward in
doing the people’s business,” said Goodman. Goodman and his wife, Gaby, have owned property in Goodman admits he has never held public office before,
however, he feels he has the experience to deal with tough issues. That experience is a 14-year career in public education,
which included being a classroom teacher, administrator and superintendent. As superintendent of Limon Public Schools, said Goodman,
“I facilitated and oversaw an annual budget of $5 million and directed a staff
of over 70.” Goodman also said he understands how to listen and work
with others. When asked what the top issues for the county were Goodman responded, “roads, water and the
economy.” Goodman said the three issues were interrelated. Without
properly maintained roads and adequate water, said Goodman, the county can’t
move forward economically. Also, noted Goodman, there are a lot of entities
wanting to grab Also seeking the Republican nomination for District One
commissioner are Dale Hoag, Allen Butler, Ken Lankford and The district one seat is currently being held by Carole
Custer who announced earlier this week she would not seek re-election. Caucus Day to determine whose names will be placed on
the ballot for the primary election is March 16. To be placed on the primary ballot via the caucus,
candidates must secure at least 30 percent of the caucus vote. Those who do not secure the adequate votes at caucus can
get placed on the primary ballot via petition. The primary election will take place Aug. 10. – |
