The Silver Cliff board of trustees has added a new member to its ranks.

Mayor Allen Butler swore in a new trustee, Sharon Langfeldt, during the Jan. 11 regular board meeting. She fills the seat previously held by Janice King, who recently stepped down.

While this is Langfeldt’s first time in elected office, she isn’t new to the Valley. She has lived in Silver Cliff for four and a half years and lived in Denver prior to moving here. She said, “I like it here very much and am excited to serve in any way I can.”

Some local issues she feels strongly about are managing community growth in a positive mannor and conserving water resources.

After the swearing in ceremony, the board covered many routine items. This included the payment of bills, setting personnel holidays for 2010, committee reports and other business.

The Trustees also approved the vacation of a piece of property along Highway 96. The small strip of property, located at the Kleine’s Trailer Park, was originally a part of Highway 96 and was later deeded to the town by the state. The property is currently owned by John Comerford.

The board approved ordinance 01-2010 to change the meeting times for the Trustee meetings. This will mean that the meeting time will be earlier in the winter months, and will be held later in the summer months. The new meeting times will be at 5:30 p.m., October through March, and 6:30 p.m. for April through  September. Ordinance 02-2010 was also approved which will change the posting place for the meetings.

The trustees also renewed the home occupation certificates and the kennel licenses for Cliffes Veterinary Clinic and Sangre de Cristo Veterinary.

Lastly the trustees approved the dates for the Silver Cliff Mining and Heritage days. The festivities will be held June 11, 12 and 13.

All of the trustees—Brian Woods, Larry Weber, Nora Drenner, Dave Peterson, Sharon Langfeldt and Jeff Banning, as well as Mayor Allen Butler—were present at the meeting.
