Garden Club’s vision now a reality

Two years ago, the High Altitude Garden Club had a vision to provide attractive, highly visible planters along Main Street in downtown Westcliffe.

Last week, that vision became reality when four concrete planters were installed.

One planter is located in front of the Jones Theater, another is on the corner of Second and Main streets, a third is located at Vimont Park and a fourth planter is located on the corner of Fourth and Main streets.

Local artist Willie Britt created the elk and bear designs on the sides of the planters.

Dan, Kelly and Dave Montano of Montano Concrete donated construction for the planters and delivered and installed them.

Valley Ace Hardware donated the soil and the garden club provided the plants.

The club hopes to use the planters to display sculpture during the winter months when live plants are not practical.
