10/1/2009 Homecoming at CCHS: This year it’s all elemental!
Blue and gold reigns as Custer County School Homecoming 2009 gets underway

Blue and gold reigns as Custer County School Homecoming 2009 gets underway. This year’s theme is the elements: fire, water, earth and wind.

To get all in the spirit, a pep rally will be held today, Thursday, Oct. 1, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the east gymnasium.

Then, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, the Custer County High School guys dress in T- shirts and shorts to play in the annual peach fuzz volleyball competition.

The junior varsity and varsity home volleyball game against Cotopaxi gets underway Friday, Oct. 2, beginning at 4 p.m.

At dusk on Friday, head to the school to participate in the annual bonfire and car crush.

On Saturday, Oct. 3, the homecoming parade begins at 10 a.m.

Following the parade, cure those hunger pangs by heading over to the school parking lot for a fundraising tailgate party.

Hot dogs, chips, chicken wings, Frito pie, desserts and more will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit various high schools. Kick-off for the big game against Las Animas is 1 p.m.

During half time, homecoming royalty will be presented. They are seniors Carrie Howard, Brandon Kruis, Renee Geary and Sam Wray; juniors Alina Sagimuldina, Tony Beltramo, Brooke Petrone and Jacques DeGinestel; sophomores Rachel Lee and Zack Byers; and freshmen Sarah Groff and Corey Nordyke.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, the “powderpuff” football game played by Custer County high school girls only will kick-off. Sophomore and senior gals will play against the junior and freshmen lasses.

Festivities draw to a close with the homecoming dance from 9 p.m. to midnight in the school’s multi-purpose room on Saturday.
