A Painted View Paints and Quarter Horses Ranch invites the public to four full days of cutting competition. The Sangre de Cristo Summer Cutting Classic begins today, Thursday, July 23, at 3115 CR 160, Hermit Lane. Activities start at 8 a.m. each day through Sunday. Admission is free.

There will be over $50,000 in prizes. Gist belt buckles will be awarded to high money winners in each event, and a youth belt buckle will be given away each day with over $11,000 in buckles total.

The Custer County Chamber of Commerce will be serving food at their concession stand throughout the NCHA (National Cutting Horse Association) Summer Cutting Classic. Friday night offers a cowboy style dinner dance with a disc jockey for the contestants.

Contestants from 15 states are signed up for this major stop on the way to the world championship, and riders in the top five in the world standings in the NCHA will be there.
