Open
house planned for this Saturday
Julie Sperry, D.V.M. has opened The Cliffs Veterinary
Clinic at 1 Hermit Lane
in Silver Cliff. Sperry is hosting an open house this Saturday, June 13, from
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is invited to come in and meet her and see the new
facility that is located next to the Forest Service office.
Sperry was born and raised in Shawnee, Kan.
She attended Kansas
State University
where she received her B.S. in Feed Science and Management and then her Doctor
of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.
Sperry worked at a vet clinic in Hays, Kan.
for two years and moved to Hartsel, Colo.
in 2002 where she co-managed a 40,000 acre ranch. From there, she took over the
veterinary duties at Rocky Mountain Livestock Sales in Salida,
moved on to become the primary vet for the Ark-Valley Humane Society in Buena Vista, then managed the Jefferson Farms Llamas and
Alpacas ranch in Salida and worked at Murdoch Ranch
Supply as the pet department specialist. Most recently, Sperry has been working
part time at Eskridge Veterinary Clinic in Canon City.
She is married to Jim Sperry, Custer County District Conservationist.
The Sperrys met two years ago
and were married June 28, 2008. They honeymooned in Wyoming spending their days
as newlyweds looking at landmarks and rock-hounding. The couple lives on Copper
Gulch road between Westcliffe and Parkdale.
Dr. Sperry says she enjoys working on all classes of
animals, large and small. She has experience with everything from small house
pets to all types of livestock.
Clinic hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:30
a.m.-5:30 p.m. She is also available for emergencies. The phone number is
